Immersion cooling specialist Asperitas has announced its partnership with IT infrastructure and server technology experts, Dell Technologies. The announcement sees Asperitas becoming Dell’s partner for their new OEM Engineered Solutions (OES) program, enabling Dell as a global reseller of Asperitas immersion cooling solutions together with immersion ready and supported Dell server solutions.
Dell Technologies is a leading provider of IT infrastructure solutions for enterprises. The company’s product portfolio includes servers, storage systems and networking equipment and they’re currently the number one server provider in the world. This partnership focuses on bringing together the cutting-edge server solutions from Dell with the advanced immersion cooling technology from Asperitas. This integrated offering enables customers to benefit from solutions where performance is unlocked in the most sustainable way.
Speaking about the partnership, Maikel Bouricius, Asperitas CMO commented: “Dell Technologies and Asperitas have been working together over the years on server validation and other projects – one such project being to jointly support a large European financial institute to achieve their energy efficiency objectives. Our partnership with Dell exemplifies our commitment to the sustainable future of datacentres using liquid immersion cooling. Providing our immersion technology alongside tried and tested Dell servers ensures that the customer journey into immersion is a smooth one. Datacentres can do more when it comes to managing their workloads in the most energy efficient manner possible, but we also know we have a responsibility towards the global energy footprint. I’m pleased to see that Dell shares this vision.”
For customers, especially leaders in datacentre infrastructure and operations, this partnership will not only deliver Asperitas/Dell liquid immersion cooling products, but also pioneering expertise from both sides – Asperitas with specialized thermal management proficiency and Dell Technologies as the number one partner for IT infrastructure. All in all, this collaboration will reduce business costs while achieving a higher workload performance, ensuring customers can utilize budget for more compute performance, not energy. Sustainable growth is key.
The Dell hardware comes with ProSupport from Dell, with the datacentre installation and system maintenance services being provided by Asperitas. The integrated offering, configured specifically to support any application, is designed to ready PowerEdge servers for immersion and have them compatible with the Asperitas immersion cooling solution. The OEM Engineered solution is available now directly from Dell or one of its partners.

About the technology
Datacentres can become more energy efficient using Asperitas’ cooling technology, while at the same time reducing the space needed for the same IT capacity by directly cooling the hardware with an optimised liquid developed by Shell. The completely closed solution can be directly applied to existing datacentres. Asperitas’ solution is the only pumpless immersion cooled system, based on the natural convection concept, resulting in plug and play enterprise ready solutions. The technology also makes it possible for energy-intensive (future) hardware of chip manufacturers to continue to function at the highest possible utilisation rate. The latter makes the technology interesting for users of high-performance computing systems. A unique aspect of Asperitas’ solution is its ability to offer hot water-cooling, which makes it possible to cool datacentres, even in warm areas. The solution converts all electricity used for the hardware into a usable energy form: warm water of at least 55 degrees Celsius. This would allow datacentres to transform into suppliers of residual heat on a large scale, catering to the needs of many European regions where many datacentres are housed.
About Asperitas
Asperitas is a Dutch clean and high-tech scale-up, that has developed and marketed Immersed Computing®, a technology based on immersion liquid cooling to enable datacentres to function in a sustainable manner, even for the most demanding users and environments. In 2018, Asperitas won the international New Energy Challenge competition organised by Shell, Rockstart and YES!Delft. In May 2020, the World Economic Forum published a paper on Transformational Energy Innovations of the last 10 years, selecting Asperitas technology as the only datacentre energy efficiency solution in their ground breaking paper.
